Fences in Buena Park
We provide and build wood, vinyl, aluminum, steel, composite, and glass fences. We install in the ground, on slabs and on top of walls.
Fences provide partitions between homes, and provide either privacy or openness contingent on what is necessary. For example, openness may be desired for either a pool or a pleasant view. Pool or sprinkler water and the humidity in our area allows steel to rust and deteriorate, so for openness the best solution is aluminum or vinyl. Steel fencing is regularly referred to as “wrought iron”, but that is a misnomer given that wrought iron doesn’t rust, but mild steel certainly does. Aluminum fencing has a similar little profile as steel, however vinyl fencing will have bigger supports or shapes. Both aluminum and vinyl are excellent materials around pools given that they do not deteriorate or necessitate painting even when left exposed to lots of water. Limited dark colors are available in vinyl.
For strong fencing, vinyl or composites are favored because they do not rot or decay. The color white is commonplace for vinyl, but we carry a very nice tan vinyl with a texture making it unlike the customary manufactured material.
Another pool fencing option is a removable fence such as the kind manufactured by “Baby-loc”. Their fence employs a netted material to keep a child out and uses either aluminum or fiberglass posts that are put into fittings precisely placed in a concrete slab. Last of all, there is a separate dog guard fence system that initiates a mild shocking apparatus on a dog collar. If the dog attempts to cut across an invisible fence line established by a concealed wire the dog will be deterred by a minimal electrical shock. Glass fences and rails are a last choice, and they have to be custom fit.
Patio Covers in Buena Park
Pierce Construction & Repair delivers and mounts patio covers which are either water proof or for shade. For waterproofed patio covers, we utilize metal, Alumawood, and wood. In the case of shade covers, we utilize wood, vinyl, or canvas. Wood framing and shingles could be built, but it’s generally too expensive. Shade patios, when done in wood, need painting which is a huge maintenance drawback, so to lessen maintenance, vinyl or Alumawood shade covers are advisable.
Many of the patio covers put together for clients in southern California are designed to be for shade and involve lattice (2x2s) set uniformly on the top. If the shade 2x2s are painted wood, they will need repainting in just a couple of years. This is extremely complicated, time consuming and expensive. That is why, vinyl or Alumawood is advised for patio covers. Nevertheless, since we experience morning dew and a minimal amount rain, solid water proof covers are also popular. In the case of a second story deck, the same rule is appropriate in that a water proof top shelters both the tables and chairs beneath besides the actual building itself. Structural protection produces much less repairs and maintenance.
Dry-rot is the chief ingredient to wood damage in our area, not termites. Termites can be removed, but dry-rot is classified as a fungus and it continues to grow and destroy wood. The old wood needs to be either cut out or removed. Dry-rot will strike if water is permitted to accumulate in an area which does not dry up promptly. This can be on top of level joists, but particularly in areas involving wood joints. When building substructures, we choose to use chemically pressure treated timber which fights dry-rot. From time to time we protect substructure support members with vinyl or roofing paper to shield the supporting wood from rainwater. We specifically like to minimize ornate moldings or trim that create cracks and spaces for water to get into and attack the wood. Many property owners permit dirt to collect so that the dirt essentially touches support wood for either fences or patios. When rainwater, or water from a sprinkler is permitted to build up near a support base, it just about ensures that the wood support will deteriorate.
Another possibility, canvas awnings are especially appealing and practical for creating protection from the elements. Sunesta carries various styles and numerous colored fabrics. Awnings also come as permanent, or with the option of closing and opening either with a manual crank or at the touch of a button.
